Summing up the first competition...

The first international pattren drafting competition has finished. We received works not from Russia only, but also from other countries. 5 constructions were submitted. Our judges have estimated not only algorithms themselves were estimated, but also constructor's approaches to method description. Participants submitted sketches, technical designs and model descriptions had more chances to win.

We had estimated algorithms as program product by following criteria:

- clear structure and readability of the model submitted;

- possibility of rapid changes;

- work with new functions and complicated operators, as "Contract","Conjugation_arcs", "l_fnc",conditional operators, cycle constructions etc.);

- use of additional control of construction and of operator "Warn";

- grading of model.

Construction methods were estimated by following criteria:

- approaches to use of method (coefficients and parameters accounting, darts accounting, correction of methods accounts etc.);

- checking and methods of edges adjusting;

- pattern forming (darts forming, edges adjusting, marking etc.);

- grading range.

Now we would like to point some weak and strong points of algorithms.

Weak points:

- bulky accountings make it difficult to read a code and to understand a method;

- the fact the parameters are specified in absolute values means that the method is underdone;

- parameters (angles) of splines that are connected one to another are useful to be specified in relative values that provices the spline smootheness;

- one must be especially attentive in edge lengths and methods of their adjusting (not only side edges, but also "collar-neck" node, dart sides etc.), for it is one of the main advantages of automated designing);

Strong points:

- new modern functions (as pocket and flap making via operator "coinciding_l",parameters accounting via "l_fnc", operator "reduce" etc.);

- nested functions (implicit point specifying, segments inside operators);

- comments.

Thank you for your interest! Be successful in your your futher work and designing in LEKO.
