The III International competition:
The third competition is over, in which 7 drafts were competitors. We are pleased that all this works were of much higher level that sent for previous competition. Some of participants actively use dialogs, conditional statements and looping. But some works are incomplete. One of most important criteria is grading. Unfortunately, some designs grade for narrow range of size and heights only. Also, some designs lack adjusting edges and sleeve fitting.
We would like to accent looping. On one hand, this is more progressive, but, on the other hand, it is necessary to correctly arrange loops. Because designer's main purpose is to create patterns of the highest quality. That is why loops are good only if algorithm is correctly written.
This time, your works were estimated not only by our specialists, but also by independent experts.
Our congratulations to winners:
I - Irina M. Kuprina, Omsk (skirt with double gussets);
II - Olga Valendo, Moscow (bias eight-gusset skirt);
III - L. Nikolayeva, A. Mikhailova, L. Khramtsova, Cheboxary (jacket_1).
We are always pleased to see new drafting methods in your works as well as sophisticated models.
Currently our specialists develop the method of 2.5D designing. This is a really new lo ok at plane patterns drafting. In 3D modeling you get patterns by flattening 3D surfaces. Instead, 2.5D method allows you to take into account front-back diameters and depths in the process of plane designing, as well as additional line measures directly from individual figure or from constructive lines drawn relatively to an individual figure. An operator coincides a digital picture of a person and 3D mannequin and takes all necessary measures from this mannequin. Using this method, you can get much better patterns based on person's bearing, person's body spatial position and other spatial measures which are hard to be taken into account in 2D designing.
We would be glad to receive your algorithms based on 2.5D method. You can download LEKO 8.02 version from our Internet page.
