Do you really need CAD?
Is CAD necessary for sewing manufacture? NO. CAD, for itself,
is necessary for no manufacture. CAD is necessary for creation of a model,
grading, table drafting, which are required for cutting and sewing a consignee
of apparel. This consignee, then, must be sold - so that the manufacturer
could compensate his charges and have a profit. This chain must function
perfectly, to guarantee the work of the manufacture. If the volume of
production is rather large and sales area good (uniform, men apparel),
expenses increase from step to step, and powerful CAD allows to minimize these
expenses. But very often money paid for CAD is a real waste, not due to CAD
but due to the style of work of the enterprise. You can work using supplied
materials and patterns, you can order patterns with a design-studio, you can
buy, instead of CAD, ready patterns and marker making. And you can buy CAD with
ready models and pay much less than for ready patterns.
We deliver the System for apparel designing (SAD) LEKO in different
configuration. The total cost of the pattern making is from $1000
(PC+printer A3+the program) up to $5000 (PC+plotter+the program).
If you are a small manufacturer, you can buy a version of $250 (if you already have PC and printer) or use a free of charge version,
paying for pattern plotting or printing. For larger enterprise, it is
better to buy a special (separate) PC ($600-800), a plotter ($3000), a printer
A3 ($300), full version of the program
($900) or full version of the program containing marker making ($1900).
Your first purchases are not the end of expenses for CAD. The most necessary
things are putting CAD into operation, training of specialists and gaining
experience. That is why analyzing expenses you should use the concept of
"a total cost of possession ". The total cost of possession of CAD LEKO may be
substantially decreased not only due to low starting cost, but also due to
extensive "library" of ready models (more than 500), work of already trained
specialists (the system is studied at a number of training establishments),
large number of developers of models.
New LEKO 8.0 version allows you to minimize the staring expenses:
the program is delivered free of charge, you pay only for plotting of
patterns ($0,03 per set of patterns). It is in accordance with general
tendency in software field: not to sell an expensive program,
but to lend it or sell the useful functions of a program.
The first delivery of the system includes ready models, which are selected by
the buyer in accordance with the assortment required. This substantially
speeds up putting the system into operation. It is extremely important for
small enterprises to have a producible pattern making system instead of the
experimental approach offering 2 or 3 base models and methods. Those who
is starting, as a rule, does not have extra time and money for experiments.
What differs LEKO from similar ones is realization of new construction methods,
oriented to resources of PC. The system includes new methods of designing of
sewed-in sleeves, raglan and pants. Currently,
no model is developed without changeable coefficients and cyclic chaining.
We would like to give more attention to cyclic chaining, because this is a
principally new approach to construction method. Using cyclic chaining,
the user does not write the concrete formula of segment calculation, but
he/she writes conditions of what he/she is going to get, and the computer
itself choose allowances and coefficients to fulfil these conditions. Cycling
chaining allows the modeler to focus at contents/subject of the construction
instead of inventing formulas of allowances calculating, with further checking
them for all sizes. Cycling chaining can be easily added to any method,
to expand its resources and make it more "clever". In the near future, we
suppose, cycling chaining will be essential part of computer designing of
apparel.
Due to extensive "library" of models, LEKO allows you to master new assortment
more quickly. Moreover, you can not only plot patterns of the ready model, but
also bring changes to it, for example: choose necessary allowances, lengths,
balance,
change the design of a sleeve of a collar (from other models) etc.
The segment of the market containing small enterprises which have the
possibility of quick changing assortment, fabrics, size/height scales,
is constantly growing. For such manufacturers, not so much saving of 2-3% of
fabric (1-0,2% in the final price) as proper option of assortment, sizes,
fashion tendencies and rapid meeting the demand is important. We have already
left behind the period when small workshops had been
sewing the same model for several years and selling it without much troubles.
LEKO, due to work with typical and individual measurements, is useful for
industrial sewing and ateliers. You may take measures traditionally
(wit a tape) or use a digital photo. Then, they will be
saved in database, and you may use them to develop a pattern for any apparel.
To have patterns of any size/height, you may use discs "Fashion pattern magazine" containing more than 400 models for typical and
conditionally typical measurements. Each disc contains 30 models; it works
without using additional programs; you may print a life-size pattern wit any
printer. One disc costs 200-360 roubles ($6,5-12). The discs were developed
accounting the designing under individual measurements. These discs are joint
into series "Private collection" and include "Jackets" (by Iliya J. Grinshpan)
and "Pants" (by Serghei A. Maltsev).
