One of most urgent problems - how to sew fitted garment of highest quality
with minimum amount of fittings - is still of great importance for ateliers.
It is necessary for tailor's cutters to get all possible information on
a customer and customer's preferences. And the customer, from his or her hand,
would like to visit an atelier, choose fabric and fashion and take ready
garment in two or three days.
To arrange such a process, it is necessary to get all possible information
on customer's stature. But it is necessary to know more than just girths for
touchless sewing. You must take into account body position, stooping,
asymmetry, shoulders position, usual bearing. To get all this data, fittings
are necessary.
Currently there is wide range of cheap or expensive digital cameras which in
few seconds screen necessary image. And after you picture your customer, you
can get all data on you customer's body. But it is rather hard to
"take measurements" basing on a photo - due to prospective projection, optical
aberration and different scales.
To digitize body surface, there are large, bulky and expensive body scanners
which cost hundreds thousands dollars. But to draft a pattern, you need not
body surface but a certain measurements taken by certain method.

Is it possible to use digital camera to do it? - Yes, it is. But to take measurements with camera, you need special program LF1.
And a camera+LF1 works as an expensive body scanner? - No. Body scanner functions automatically; instead, in LF1 operator manually adjust and correct anthropometrical points. For body scanner you need seek construction system; instead, LF1 is compatible with apparel construction system LEKO. In body scanner only manufacturer can bring additions and changes; instead, LF1allows entering measurements by user himself.
So, in most cases digital camera+LF1 is more useful and profitable than body scanner.
What else can tandem "digital camera+LF1" give you?
With help of it, you can accept orders distantly. You can go to any place
and picture employees - if you have an order for corporate uniform. You can
accept orders for high-tech or expensive garments in shops or ateliers
in other places. When a garment is ready, you can send it by post minimizing
returns, due to improving fitting and reducing mistakes when accepting orders.
As nearly all optical systems, digital camera has non-linear distortions as
well as scale distortions (due to prospective). This is why, before you begin
taking measurements by camera, you must "remember" all camera's distortions to
compensate them during further work. To do this, you need to picture a
"grid" - a sheet of paper 10x10 separated in squares.
Fix camera with special upright. You can also use transportable tripod.
Picture your customer no less than 4 times. It would be better if his/her
bearing would be usual.
The system will form 3D mannequin on the base of main measurements (height, bust girth and hip girths); this mannequin coincides to photos in different projections.
The operator coincides anthropometrical points of the mannequin and of customer's photo (3-5 minutes) and get the set of individual measurements ("cyber twin").


Then, these measurements are being transferred into construction system in which, on the base of traditional method or 2.5D method, patterns are being drafted, printed or plotted and go to cutting (3-5 minutes).
